New Xbox Experience Launched

After doing my morning errands, I went ahead and fired up the 360 to download the NXE update and after a false alarm RROD (goddammit, Microsoft!), the update went off without a hitch. Okay, so maybe the menus are actually less intuitive than the old ones, but overall it's a huge improvement. It was kind of neat to see several of my friends online creating avatars at the same time as me, and the "community" aspect really seems to be the strongest point so far.

I deleted a bunch of crap I don't want on my hard drive any more (take that, Fable!) to make room for installing games to the HD. My first one was Fallout 3. The install only took about 10 minutes, and it's a trip and a half to be playing it with the machine near silent. It's quieter than my PS2 right now. Excellent, excellent feature (even if it was stolen from PS3).

I've read that some people are having issues but I'm not one of them, except with the Marketplace. I wanted to see if I could find some new themes, but two out of every three attempts to access a product failed to connect. Oops! Not a big deal, though.

In all, I'm very excited about this.

haha your avatar looks a lot like you our avatars should hang out. i didn't think i'd be able to get nxe cause i thought i had the 128 memory card but i got the 250 one so i guess i can still wait to get a hard drive.

Given the chance, the first thing I will do with any game is use the character creator. So guess what I did first with NXE?

I'd be lying if I said that wasn't one of the things I was looking forward to most, even though I don't see any real reason to need one.
